Frank Rabuzzi's Obituary
Frank Rabuzzi, 93, of Alliance, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at 3:00 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. Born on November 17, 1919 in Millsboro, PA, he lived in Alliance since childhood. A 1938 graduate of Alliance High School, Frank served our country in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Mr. Rabuzzi played in the Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs organizations as a pitcher. As a right-handed pitcher, he earned one of 50 spots on the CCC s All-American team, a tremendous honor, in Stanfield, Oregon in 1939. He finished with a perfect 10-0 record for the Stanfield team and twirled two no-hitters. He was a close personal friend of legendary Ohio State, Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals head coach, the late Paul Brown. Mr. Rabuzzi helped many area collegiate football standouts break into the National Football League through his many ties to the NFL. Mr. Rabuzzi was awarded the CCC All-American Medal in 1939 and was inducted into the Alliance Aviator Hall of Fame, in 2010. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he was employed as a Mail Carrier for many years. In addition to his passion for baseball, he was also an avid football fan, especially the Cincinnati Bengals. Survivors include his daughter, Linda (Kenneth) Stammen of Grove City, OH and Lori (Scott) Pasch of Alliance, OH; a grandson, Kenneth (Kelli) Stammen, Jr. of Grove City, OH; two great-grandchildren Ava Stammen, and Aidan Stammen of Grove City, Ohio; a sister, Wanda Furbee of Stow, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Lillian (Penturf) Rabuzzi on March 27, 2007, whom he married on July 10, 1943; his parents, Augusto and Gustina (Della Gherardesci) Rabuzzi; a sister, Jean Santucci; two brothers, Geno and Eugene Rabuzzi; and several nephews. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Ruggieri as celebrant. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Arrangements are by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, 1000 S.
