Frank G. Burkey's Obituary
Frank G. Burkey, 91, of Marlboro, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 10:38 am at Select Specialty Hospital in Akron.
Born on July 5, 1934, in Deerfield to George Alton and Nita Rose (Devine) Burkey, he lived in Marlboro for most of his life.
Frank was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alliance.
A 1952 graduate of Southeast High School, he served our country in the U.S. Army in Signal Corps for 2 years.
Frank was employed at Babcox & Wilcox Tubular Products Division starting as an electrician and later became Maintenance Superintendent, retiring in 1995 after 40 years of service.
He was a member of the Deerfield Historical Society. He was involved in Boy Scouts for many years and also coached Girls Fast Pitch Softball.
Frank served on the Marlboro Fire Board, Marlboro Zoning Board and the Deerfield Cemetery Board.
He enjoyed traveling to many US National Parks.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Glasser) Burkey, whom he married on December 13, 1975; three daughters, Sue Ellen Burkey of Chatfield, OH, Kristin (Stanley) Koterba of Chagrin Falls and Michelle (Matt) Reynolds of Ravenna; three sons, Brett (Vickie) Burkey of Rootstown, Keith Burkey of Niles and Michael Cannon of Marlboro; 11 grandchildren, Ronald Lynch, Michael Cannon, Matthew Cannon, Maylee Reimer, Brandon Burkey, Stephanie Burkey, Claudia Burkey, Caleb Burkey, Arianna Burkey, Stanley Koterba and George Koterba; five great-grandchildren, Ronny Lynch, Ryley Lynch, Mason Reimer, Mitchell Reimer and Levi Cannon; two sisters, Phyllis Coss of Newton Falls and Glenda Richards of Palmyra; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his son, Glenn Burkey; his parents; four sisters, Suzie Lewis, Linda Salmen, Luella Jackson and Margie Monbarren; five brothers, George Burkey, Donald Burkey, Richard Burkey, Charlie Burkey and Harry Burkey.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. His Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at Marlboro Cemetery.
