Frances (Bonafede) Brandani's Obituary
Frances (Bonafede) Brandani, 90, of Beloit, died on Sunday, June 2, 2002 at Alliance Community Hospital. Born in Campo Felice, Sicily, on April 11, 1912, she had lived in the Alliance area since 1920. Mrs. Brandani worked at the Deluxe Fruit Market with her brother, Andy Bonafede for many years. She had been a manager of the Dante Alighieri Society Club for seven years, and also the past president of the former Ladies of the Dante Society. A very active private caterer for many years, she also catered numerous functions for the Senior Citizens Center and had been instrumental in the formation of their Senior Citizen's Bingo. She was a member of the Alliance Senior Citizens, and a charter member of the Senior Citizens Chorus. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, she belonged to their Funtastiks Senior Group. Survivors include her husband, George, whom she married on November 25, 1954; three sisters, Jennie Kallas of Alliance, Mary Schmidt of Phoenix, AZ, and Josephine Marsh of Kempner, TX; a brother, Joe Calderone of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her father, Michael Bonafede, her mother, Rosaria Civello Bonafede Calderone, her stepfather, Angelo Calderone; a sister, Carmella Zipparo, and four brothers, Andy Bonafede, Ned Calderone, Little Andy Calderone, and Tom Calderone. Friends may call at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, June 9, 2002, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, June 10, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
