Forrest F. Gallina's Obituary
Forrest F. Gallina, 89, of Alliance, died on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at Community Care Center. Born in Alliance on January 5, 1915, a son of the late Henry and Francis (Bettini) Gallina, he lived in the Alliance area all of his life. A graduate of Alliance High School, he retired from the Morgan Engineering Co., where he had been a welder for many years. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U. S. Army in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign, the Normandy Campaign and the U.S. Coast Guard European Theatre Campaign. He received the EAME Theatre Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He had also served in the 3 C's (Civilian Conservation Corps.). He was also a life member of the V.F.W., the American Legion and the 40 & 8. Mr. Gallina was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #558. A lifelong sports fan and longtime Aviator fan & booster, he was a Past President of the Alliance High School Booster Club. He was also a member of the Hall of Fame Club in Canton. A member of the Alliance Lions Club for many years, he was the 1989-90 recipient of the Lion of the Year award. He also had a lifetime association with the Christopher Columbus Society and the Dante Alighieri Society. His family includes his wife of 64 years, Doletta (Skivolocke) Gallina; his daughter and son-in-law, Pati and Jim Korleski of Alliance; and his grandchildren, Tami Harding, Kimi Korleski, Ticia Dillon, Jaimee Korleski and James Korleski. He is also the brother of Etta Ramsey of Orlando Fl., Josephine Baker of Bakersfield, Ca., Eugene Gallina of Covina, Ca., and a brother to Quillen, Lewis and William who are deceased. Other family members include many loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, April 30, 2004, from 6 - 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, May 1, 2004, from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, May 1, 2004, at 11 :00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery .
