Flora Evelyn (Martin) Gardner's Obituary
Flora Evelyn (Martin) Gardner, 89, of Alliance, died on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 9:53 a.m. at her home. She was born on September 23, 1922 in Bolton, and lived in Alliance all of her life. Flora was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge #362, where she retired as a bar tender. Mrs. Gardner was also a member of the American Legion Post #44 and the V.F.W. Post #1062. In her past-time, she enjoyed Cleveland Indians baseball, was an avid card player, was a prominent bowler, and enjoyed camping. Flora is survived by her three daughters, Joyce (Clifford) Hancock of Canton, Peggy (Gene) Stieb of Alliance, and Justine Weimer of Alliance; a son, Vancil Gardner, Jr. of Alliance; grandchildren, Richard (Angela) Clark, Joanne (Jody) Vazquez, Melissa Dunham, John Clark, Linda Clark, Larry Gardner, Jr., Kirk Gardner, Michael Gardner, Gene (Lynne) Stieb, Jr., Dale (Valerie) Stieb, Christina Grossenbaugh, Amber Shriver, and Stacie Weimer; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Joan (Martin) Triplett of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband of 48 years, Vancil R. "Bud" Gardner Sr. on October 26, 1978; a son, Larry L. Gardner, Sr.; her parents, Adam F. and Wilma (Kegg) Martin; a sister, Virginia Betz; and three brothers, Gene Martin, Perry Martin and Paul Martin. Private family services will be held.
