Evelyn M. (Apperson) Leiter's Obituary
Evelyn M. (Apperson) Leiter, 73, of Alliance, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 10, 2005, after more than three years of a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Canton on April 22, 1932, she had lived in the Louisville area most of her life. She was a member of Canton Baptist Temple, working many years with the church medic team. Evelyn was always ready with a word of encouragement to anyone who needed it. Stranger and friend alike would unload their troubles and concerns on her and she would comfort them all. She is survived by her husband of almost 55 years, Earl P. Leiter (they were married on December 30, 1950); a daughter, Charlotte A. (Dan) Loar of Alliance; a son, Philip C. (Rebecca) Leiter of Hudson; four grandchildren; Christy (Jason) Definbaugh of Alliance, Nick (Amanda) Loar of Beloit, and Roxanne and Kyle Leiter of Hudson; two great-grandsons, Jacob and Zachary Definbaugh of Alliance; a sister, Beverly (George) Rodak of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd J. and Esther R. (Harris) Apperson; and a brother, Ronnie. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 12, 2005, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and at the Canton Baptist Temple, 515 Whipple Ave. NW, Canton on Thursday, October 13, 2005, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jake Tovissi officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park. The family wishes to thank the Aultman Cancer Center, the Cleveland Clinic, and the Alliance Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
