Eugene L. Haidet's Obituary
Eugene L. Haidet, 82, of Alliance, died on Saturday, October, 12, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton. Born in Alliance, on June 11, 1920, he had been a resident of Alliance for all his life. A graduate of Mount Union College, he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business. Mr. Haidet was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy on a destroyer in the Pacific Theater, also serving during the Korean Conflict, retiring as Lt. Commander. Retiring from Paul Kintz Construction Company as treasurer, he was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #558 where he served as Past Grand Knight and Treasurer. He was also a member of the Alliance Kiwanis Club where he served as Past President and Treasurer and was a Hixson Fellow; a member of the Alliance High School Foundation where he served as Treasurer for 12 years; a life member of the T .R.O.A. (The Retired Officers Association), and a Charter Member of the Canton Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants. Survivors include his wife, Janet M. (Kolp) Haidet, whom he married on October 15, 1949; two sons, Mark Edward Haidet of New Brighton, Minn., and Michael K. Haidet of Jackson Twp., OH.; a daughter, Mrs. Gregory (Barbara J.) Verbus of Naperville, IL; 8 grandchildren; a brother, Walter R. Haidet of Pittsburgh, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Walter N. and Alma C. (Gerardat) Haidet; and a brother, LaVerne Haidet. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 15, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. under the direction of the Sharer-Stirling- Skivolocke Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Walton-Schrader Funeral Home on Monday from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. A K of C Rosary Service will begin at 8:30 p.m.
