Esther (Davia) Offenbecher's Obituary
Esther (Davia) Offenbecher, 92, of Alliance, died on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at 10:45 p.m. at Bel Air Care Center. She was born on December 10, 1916 in Amsterdam, and lived in Alliance most of her life. Mrs. Offenbecher was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and retired from the Alliance Manufacturing Company after 22 years of service. Esther was a member and past president of the former Ladies of the Dante Alighieri Society, a member of the former Ladies of the Christopher Columbus Society and the Alliance Manufacturing Retirees Club. In her past-time, she enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre, and was a member of the Triple "E" Card Club. She is survived by a daughter, Betty A. (Whitey) Moore of Alliance; two sons, William (Loretta) Offenbecher of Alliance and Thomas (Polly) Offenbecher of Homeworth; ten grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Martin Offenbecher on December 19, 1999, whom she married on December 31, 1932; her parents, Joseph and Egli (DiMazio) Davia; three sisters; and three brothers. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, January 31, 2009 from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Donald L. Feicht, as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
