Emmet Alvin Teis' Obituary
Emmet Alvin Teis, 78, of Alliance, died on November 9, 2002, Alliance Community Hospital. Born in Fairhope on October 4, 1924, he had been a resident of Alliance since 1962. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a medic. Retiring from the Crane Corporation of Alliance with over 25 years of service as a press operator, Mr. Teis was a coin collector and avid golfer. Survivors include' his wife, Frances Jane (Paige) Teis; four daughters, Karen DeYarmon of Summerville, SC, Shirley Whitacre of Alliance, Valerie Teis of Summerville, SC, and Claudia Lewis of Alliance; a step-son, Delbert Teis of Costa Mesa, CA; 19 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Schultz of Louisville and Janet Wilson of Albuquerque, NM; a sister-in-law, Wanda Teis of Louisville; two brothers, David Teis and Rolin Teis, both of Canton; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were three sons, Thomas Teis, Robert Teis, and William Teis; his parents, Clyde and Edna (Whitnight) Teis Sr.; and one brother, Clyde Teis, Jr. A Memorial Service will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 12, 2002, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Gorden Ruggles, officiating. There are no calling hours.
