Emma L. Beach 's Obituary
Emma L. (Polverine) Beach, 91, of Alliance, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 4:05 am at Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Born on January 14, 1925 in Alliance, Ohio to Pietro and Josephine (Ferro) Polverine, she lived in Alliance for all of her life. A graduate of Alliance High School, she was member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Emma was employed for 10 years at Alliance Manufacturing Co. and retired from Babcock & Wilcox Co., T.P.D. after 32½ years of service. She was a member of the Alliance Association of Secretaries and was a member and past Treasurer of the Alliance Manufacturing Co. Retiree Club.
After her retirement, she worked part time at the Alliance Municipal Court for Judge Tangi for 7 years and for Judge Lavery for 13 years.
As an active member at St. Joseph, she was a former Lector and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Board. She also was a member of St. Joseph Women's Guild, St. Joseph's 400 Club, and the Funtastics Senior Club at St. Joseph, and was a member of the Catholic Women's Club.
Emma was also a member of the Alliance Chamber of Commerce Women's Division, former member of the Carnation Festival Board, the Roma Society, V.F.W. Post 1036 Ladies Auxiliary, Christopher Columbus Society and their Bowling League, Swinging 60's Bowling Team, Stark County Board of Elections and the Alliance Area Democratic Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia (Greg) Helms of Salem, OH; step-daughter, Jean (Elwood) Unkefer of Minerva, OH; step-son, Willard Beach of Alliance, OH; two granddaughters, Erin Helms of Lakewood, OH, and Stephanie (Brian) Phillips of Parma, OH; a great-granddaughter, Morgan Phillips; two step-grandsons, Brian & Richard; step-granddaughter, Lori Trussel; sister, Margaret (Robert) Eberling of Alliance, OH; sisters-in-law, Lucille Polverine, and Jenny Lowman both of Alliance, and Linda Polverine of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces and nephews; and long-time companion, Paul Bankovich of Alliance.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Arthur L. Beach, whom she married on November 5, 1949 and died on December 23, 1985; her parents, Pietro and Josephine Polverine; eight brothers, Vincent (Shirley), Joseph, Harry, Aldo, Bruno, Pete, Anthony (Loretta), & Infant brother Bruno Polverine; a step-son, Gerald Beach; step-daughter-in-law, Sandy Beach; and a step-grandson, Jeffrey Unkefer.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 9:00 am - 10:30 am at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Matthew J. Mankowski, as celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
