Elphy Greenawalt's Obituary
Elphy Greenawalt, 80, of Homeworth, passed away on Tuesday, January 06, 2004, at 12:10 p.m. at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of the Alliance area, she was born on July 22, 1923, and graduated from Alliance High School. Elphy was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and had worked at the Alliance Mfg. for several years. Mrs. Greenawalt was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and their former Women's Guild. She belonged to the St. Joseph Mission Circle and was a former Brownie Leader for the Girl Scouts. She is survived by her husband, Paul Greenawalt (they were married on September 4, 1948); two daughters, Janice (Bill) Lewis and Judy (Ray) Bernier, both of Homeworth; two sons, Doug (Bonnie) Greenawalt of Minerva and Randy (Tami) Greenawalt of Homeworth; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Diane Elaine Greenawalt; her parents, Ciro and Josephine (V odopivic) Floreanini; and two brothers, Dino Floreanini and Bruno Floreanini. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, January 8, 2004, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, January 9, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht as celebrant. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
