Elmer Franklin Schaffer's Obituary
Elmer Franklin Schaffer, 89, of Alliance, died on Tuesday, Januray 27, 2009 at 6:40 p.m. at Akron City Hospital. He was born on September 29, 1919 in Sebring, and lived in Alliance most of his life. A graduate of Wellsville High School in Wellsville, Ohio, and was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. Mr. Schaffer was a member of First Christian Church and a member of the BPO Elks #467. Elmer retired from the Kuntzman Trucking, where he was employed as a sales representative and was formerly employed with Babcock & Wilcox. The greatest joy in life was his wife. He is survived by a son, Gary L. (Marcy) Schaffer of Stow; two daughters, Cynthia (Donald) Chapman of Apex, NC and Nancy Jo (Warren) Walfish of Akron; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Wursthorn) Schaffer on December 28, 2006, whom he married on March 3, 1940; his parents, Elmer and Martha (Fullerton) Schaffer; three sisters, Evelyn Kuntzman, Phyllis Hegyessy and Catherine Fitzpatrick; and two brothers, Wilford and Eugene Schaffer. Memorial services will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
