Elizabeth J. Schaffer's Obituary
Elizabeth Jeanette "Betty" Schaffer, 88, of Alliance, died on Thursday, December 28, 2006, at 4:38 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. Betty was born on February 16, 1918, in Alliance, and lived in Alliance all of her life. A Mount Union College graduate, she retired from the Alliance Board of Education, where she was employed as a elementary school teacher at South Liberty School, from 1952-1982. Mrs. Schaffer was also previously employed at Persky s in the Markethouse. Being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was her greatest joy. She is survived by her loving husband, Elmer Franklin Schaffer whom she married on March 3, 1940; two daughters, Cynthia A. (Donald) Chapman of Apex, NC, Nancy Jo (Warren) Walfish of Akron; a son, Gary (Marcy) Schaffer of Stow; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Warren) Curtis of Reno, NV, and Anne (Dr. Gladstone) Brown of Alliance; and numerous nieces and nephews, including her niece, Anne Brown. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Adam Jacob and Rose V. (Werbung) Wursthorn ; a sister, Rose Kandy Forest; and two brothers, Adam and John Wursthorn. Memorial services will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
