Eleanor Louise Ramser's Obituary
Eleanor Louise Ramser, 82, of Alliance, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 19,2003 at 11:30 p.m. A lifelong resident of Alliance, she was born on June 18, 1921. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School, was an Alliance High School graduate, received a B.A. degree in Education from Mount Union College, and completed graduate work through the University of Iowa. After retiring in 1987 with 44 years of teaching in the Marlington School District, she continued to serve in the Public Relations Department. She founded the Marlington Student Council and the Marlington Alumni Association. In 1987, she was awarded the second position for the Stark County Teacher of the Year. The Marlington Board of Education just established the Eleanor Ramser Citizenship Award. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the American Association of University Women where she served as past president. Eleanor was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and a member of their choir for many years. She was the past president of the Catholic Women's Club and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She was a former secretary of the Carnation Festival Board, and co-chaired the Ice Cream socials. She was also a member of the Alliance Women's Club, the B.P.O. Elks Auxiliary, the Phi Kappa Delta, the Grange, and served as Grand Marshall of the Marlboro Memorial Day parade. Eleanor was greatly honored to have many parents name their daughters after her. Mrs. Ramser is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ray E. Ramser (they were married on August 26, 1948); several nieces and nephews; and other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Laura (Frantz) Haidet; her triplet siblings, sister, Ladene Mandia, and brothers, Laverne Haidet, and Lavere Haidet. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling- Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, November 24, 2003, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 25, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. J. Patrick Manning as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
