Edwin P. Gibson's Obituary
Edwin P. Gibson, 86, of Alliance, died on Sunday, January 23, 2005, at 11:50 a.m. in Stow, Ohio, after suffering from Alzheimer s disease for several years. Mr. Gibson was born in Beaver Falls, PA, on April 20, 1918, and attended Geneva College. He lived in Alliance most of his life. He retired from Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products after 42 years in 1981 as a general foreman in the finishing department. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mr. Gibson was a member of the St. Joseph Funtastiks and A.A.R.P. For 25 years, he coached the seventh and eighth grade basketball team at St. Joseph s School, and was treasurer of the St. Joseph-Regina Coeli Booster Club. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann (Schmitt) Gibson whom he married on January 20, 1941; a daughter, Rochelle (Dan) Crum of Canton; a son, Edwin C. (Jane) of Hudson; a son, Bruce (Jackie) of Loveland; a son, Adrian of Stow; grandsons, Mark (Tiffany), Eric (Kelly), Donovan (Kristen), Aaron, and Brad Gibson; two great grandsons and a great granddaughter; a brother, Robert (Inge) Gibson of North Canton; and several nieces and nephews. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Porter and Agnes (Traynor) Gibson; sisters, Edythe Burns and Mary Brozick; and four brothers, James, George, Ernest, and Walter. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial being offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
