Edward P. "Eddie" Moretti's Obituary
Edward P. "Eddie" Moretti, 89, of Alliance, died on Thursday, October 07, 2004 at 11:50 a.m. at Canterbury Villa of Alliance. Born in Alliance on July 30, 1915, he lived in Alliance all of his life and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mr. Moretti retired from the Alliance Police Department in 1981 after 34 years of service as a police officer and was a Past President of the Alliance F.O.P. Lodge. He also served 25 years as a campus police officer for Mt. Union College and worked over 20 years as a guard at the former Alliance Ware. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #166. Mr. Moretti is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia A. and Glen Weir of Canton; three sons and daughter-in-laws, Ralph and Patricia Moretti of Canfield; Michael and Kimberly Moretti of Alliance, and Robert and Katrina Moretti of Alliance; six grandchildren; four great grandsons; two sisters, Linda Schnabel of Sebring, and Delores Edwards of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Diana M. (Collins) Moretti on August 5, 2002; his parents, Protasio and Lucia (Rinaldi) Moretti; and his sister, Rita Shones. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. There will be a Fraternal Order of Police Service on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Seifert of Regina Coeli Catholic Church as celebrant. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
