Edward Claude Markle's Obituary
Edward Claude Markle, 84, of Alliance, died on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 8:15 p.m. at his home. He was born on April 23, 1926 in Alliance, and lived in Alliance all of his life. A veteran of the U. S. Army, he retired from Sales and Service in the automobile industry after 60 years of service for Tschbold and Henschen Motor Companies. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in their choir. Mr. Markle was a member of the Washington Ruritan Club, a Volunteer Honorary Lifetime Member of the Washington Township Fire Department with 16 years of service, and was an Assistant Cub Master and a Coach for Hot Stove Baseball. In his past-time, he enjoyed bowling, collecting cookie jars and putting puzzles together. Edward is survived by his daughter, Christine (Scott) Lowry of Alliance; two sons, Gerald (Kay) Markle of Alliance and Douglas Markle of Columbus; four grandchildren, Matthew Markle, Nathan and Benjamin Lowry, and Jessica (Andy) Reinsel; two sisters-in-law, Janet and Barbara Moser both of Alliance; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death was his wife, Margaret Ellen (Moser) Markle on August 27, 2009, whom he married on September 11, 1949; his parents, Frank and Mae (Eggleston) Markle; a sister, Florence Honaker; and a brother, Alva Markle. The family will receive friends at Salem United Methodist Church on Sunday, February 13, 2011 from 1:45 - 2:45 p.m. The Stark County Fire Fighters Association will conduct a service at 2:45 p.m. and the Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Neil Orchard officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Greenlawn Cemetery.
