Edward John Laposki, Sr.'s Obituary
Edward John Laposki, Sr., 87, of Alliance, died on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at 5:15 a.m. at Alterra Sterling House, following a long illness. Born on March 11, 1921 in New Brighton, PA, he had lived in Alliance since 1947. A 1943 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College, he served in the South Pacific during World War II as a First Lieutenant with the Marines. Mr. Laposki moved to Alliance shortly after leaving the service to join Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products Division, where he worked for 36 years. He was a manager of manufacturing. Edward was a long-standing member of the B.P.0. Elks club. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. Survivors include a son, Edward J. (Angela) Laposki, Jr. of Social Circle, GA; a daughter, Susan A. (David) Gibson of Louisville, OH; three grandsons, Woody, Brent and Brian; two brothers, Julius Laposki of Milwaukee, WI and Anthony Laposki of Beaver Falls, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Marjorie (Foltz) Laposki on July 7, 2007, whom he married on January 7, 1950; and his parents, Mikel and Philea Laposki. Following cremation, a Memorial Service will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park Chapel on Friday, May 23, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht officiating. There will be no calling hours. Interment with military honors will immediately follow the service.
