Edward Kennedy, Sr.'s Obituary
Edward Kennedy, Sr., 71, of Sebring, died on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 3:00 a.m. at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on March 4, 1939 in Phillipi, WV, and lived in Alliance since 1968, when he moved from Canton. Edward attended Alliance First Assembly of God. He retired from the American Steel Foundry, where he was employed as a welder and a lift truck operator. Mr. Kennedy was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. In his past-time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Minor of Minerva and Vicki Tignor of Roseville; five sons, Ray Kennedy of Massillon, Ron Kennedy of Massillon, Ed Kennedy, Jr. of N. Benton, Doug Speakman of Minerva and Rick Speakman of Minerva; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Amos Croston of Phillipi, WV; several nieces and nephews; and also surviving are several others that lovingly referred to him as "Dad". Preceding him in death was his wife, Thelma Nadine (McCausland) Kennedy on October 24, 2003, whom he married on August 30, 1969; a son, Kevin Speakman; a grandson, David Allen Tignor; his parents, Raymond and Ollie (Croston) Kennedy; two sisters, Nina Norris and Lou Wagner; and a brother, Junior Croston. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. with his son Ed Kennedy, Jr. and Pastor Michael Ping of Alliance First Assembly of God co-officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
