Edith M. Sayre's Obituary
Edith M. Sayre, 88, of Alliance, died on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 9:30 p.m. at the North Benton home of her daughter and son-in-law. Terri, Dick and their children were by her side. Born on April 17, 1920 in Boston, MA, she lived in Alliance most of her life and was a graduate of Alliance High School. Mrs. Sayre was a member of Beechwood United Methodist Church and retired from Genie Door, where she was employed as a stock chaser and most recently, she was a greeter at WalMart. Edith was the president of Carnation Sam s and a member of Genie Manufacturing. She was also a Sunday School Teacher for 27 years and a tap dancer since the age of five. She and her sisters started the "Dancing Daileys" Club. She is survived by two daughters, Terri (Richard) Wylie of N. Benton and Patricia Anne (David) Emge of Salem; a son, Rick (Sue) Hunt of FL; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gaynelle (Jake) Fuson of Wadsworth and Mary (Gail) Tripp of SC; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her first husband, Virgil Hunt on March 11, 1976, whom she married in the 1930 s; her second husband, Kenneth Sayre on February 28, 2004, whom she married on January 5, 1980; two sons, Roger and Virgil Hunt, Jr.; her parents, James and Elizabeth (Carson) Dailey; a sister, Myrtle Dailey; and two brothers, William and Francis "Bud" Dailey. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, January 15, 2009 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alliance, on Friday, January 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht, as celebrant. Interment will follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
