Earnest A. "Art" Jones III's Obituary
Earnest A. "Art" Jones III, 71, of Alliance, went home to be with his Lord, on Monday, February 1, 2010 at Alliance Community Hospital following his fight with diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer. He was born on January 15, 1939 in Alliance, and lived here all of his life. A 1958 graduate of Alliance High School Earnest served in the U. S. Army Reserves. Mr. Jones was a member of Alliance Evangelical Friends Church. He retired from American Steel Foundry, where he was employed as a furnace operator. Earnest was a member of the Boy Scouts, the Christian Service Brigade and the Promise Keepers Task Force. In his past-time, he enjoyed woodworking, model railroads, camping and mowing his yard. He is survived by his wife, Pat (Gibbons) Jones whom he married on July 25, 1959; a daughter, Robin (Jody) Hall of Alliance; four sons, Michael Ray (Kathleen) Jones of Houston, TX, Brian Lee (Angie) Jones of Houston, TX, Roy (Irene) Jones of Chardon and Robert (Dorothy Notz) Jones of Massillon; five grandchildren, Erin, Ryan Catlin, Brendan and Sarah; two great-grandchildren, Mattison and Ace; a brother, John (Delores) Jones of Jacksonville, FL; his step-mother, Naomi Unkefer Jones of AL; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Earnest A. and Marie (Neiswonger) Jones, Jr.; two sisters, Janet Marie Szeiff and Carol Ann Penrod. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and also on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Alliance Evangelical Friends Church from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the Alliance Evangelical Friends Church on Friday, February 5, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Rick Sams officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
