Duane "Buck" Perkins' Obituary
Duane "Buck" Perkins, 79, of 604 Johnson Ave, Alliance, died on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 9:20 p.m. at his home. He was born on November 13, 1930 in Lisbon, and lived in Alliance for the past 50 years. Buck was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War serving from 1950 - 1953. He was a member of the Ravenna Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Perkins retired from Morgan Engineering where he was employed for 34 years as a builders helper and plumber. For the past 14 years he has been employed by Alpha Phi Alpha Homes, Inc of Akron, with his wife, as managers of Rushin Meadows and Nichols Wood in Ravenna. Buck was an avid Miami Hurricanes Football fan. He also enjoyed Nascar racing, stamp collecting, going to auctions, and fishing at Guilford Lake. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lois (Raabe) Perkins whom he married on January 9, 1954; three daughters, Kathy (Steve) Winegar of Santa Paula, CA, Karen (Dennis) Rice of Homeworth, and Darla (John) Visner of Sandyville, OH; 2 sons, Duane (Amy) Perkins of Sebring and Monty (Barbara) Perkins of Alliance, a step-son, Will (Irina) Raabe of Buford, GA; 12 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one uncle, several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved pet, Sassy. Preceding him in death was his parents, Fremont G. and Golda (Kyser) Perkins; and a sister, Nadine Mandell. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held at his home, 604 Johnson Ave., Alliance on Saturday, July 24, at 11:00 a.m. with the Pastor Tracy Ogden Johnson of the Ravenna Church of the Nazarene officiating. The family will continue to receive friends at the home until 3:00 p.m. Arrangements include cremation.
