Dr. Ruben A. Nepomuceno's Obituary
Dr. Ruben A. Nepomuceno, 76, of Alliance, passed away on October 13, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center. Born on February 17, 1937 in Rizal, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, to Vicente and Leonor Nepomuceno, he was the oldest of six children. He married his childhood sweetheart, Pacita Tan, in 1958 and joyfully celebrated their 55th anniversary this past June. At the age of 22, he graduated from the University of Santo Tomas Medical School, Manila, Philippines, and was the youngest graduate of his class. He loved people and especially enjoyed taking good care of his patients. Dr. Nepomuceno believed that the practice of medicine is an art and that it was important to listen to his patients in order to take good care of them. He was a Family Practitioner and Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He spent the first half of his career at Bellaire Clinic in Bellaire, Ohio. He later moved to Alliance and practiced there until his retirement. He loved this country and was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and Navy, Dr. Nepomuceno served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He also served the U.S. as a Naval Commander during Desert Storm. He was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. He retired from his practice, Alliance Immediate Care Inc. in 2010. Dr. Nepomuceno was a member of the American Medical Association, Ohio State Medical Association and Stark County Medical Association. He loved history and music. He also enjoyed gathering with friends and family regularly as a member of a local Filipino Lady of Fatima Rosary Club. A beloved husband and father, his survivors include his wife, Pacita and his four children: son Emmerico Nepomuceno; daughters Celerina Nepomuceno, Honorable Dixie Park (Dr. John Park) and Carlota Pavlish (Kevin Pavlish); grandchildren Andrew Ruben Nepomuceno, Alexander Joseph Nepomuceno, Camilla Park, Alexis Park, John Philip Park, Brigida Erjavec; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Ruggieri, as celebrant. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Sisters of Charity, physicians, nurses and staff of Mercy Medical Center s Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit for their exceptional kindness and care. The family also extends a thank you to Msgr. James Kolp for his ministry and kindness to our family. Arrangements are by the Sharer-Stirling- Skivolocke Funeral Home, 1000 S.
