Dr. Andres B. Lao, Jr.'s Obituary
Andres B. Lao, Jr. M.D., age 67, passed away at 3:05 a.m. June 4, 2010 at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center in Fairlawn, OH. He was born June 30, 1942 in Leyte, Philippines to Dr. and Mrs. Andres S. Lao, Sr. Andres was educated at the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines where he earned his undergraduate and medical degrees. He began his medical practice in 1973 in East Liverpool, OH after completing his residency at the Queens Medical Center in Jamaica, NY. In 1976, Andres started a solo practice in Alliance, OH and continued to practice medicine until his retirement in January 2009. During his years in Alliance, Andres founded and served as President of Alliance Medical Specialists, Inc. (AMSI). Throughout his professional career, he held the following positions: President of the Medical Staff and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Alliance Community Hospital, President & Trustee of the Stark County Medical Society, Delegate to the Ohio State Medical Association, Alternate Delegate from Ohio to the American Medical Association and President of the Tri-State Filipino-American Medical Association. He was elected to the American College of Physicians - American Society of Internal Medicine Fellowship in 1999. Survivors include his mother, Lourdes Baguio Lao of the Philippines; his wife Herminia Clarin Lao, whom he married June 24, 1967; his children Marvin Titus Lao of Morristown, NJ, Norman Carl Lao of Westminster, CA, Maria Lao (Carter) Beard of Summit, NJ, and Andrew Constantine Lao of Denver, Co; two grandchildren, Collin Andrew and Finley Rees Beard of Summit, NJ; five brothers, Arturo (Maria), Alfredo (Louella), Reynaldo (Grace), Ernesto (Cynthia) and Alvin; one sister, Estrellita; three nephews, Ronan, Brian and Casey; two nieces, Olivia (Ryan) Maloles and Kristina; a great niece, Vivienne Maloles and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Andres S. Lao, Sr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9th at Regina Coeli Catholic Church in Alliance. The Rev. Fr. Alvin Lao will celebrate the Mass with the Rev. Fr. Patrick Manning con-celebrating. Friends and family will gather at Regina Coeli Parish Hall directly after the service.
