Dr. James F. Kelleher's Obituary
Dr. James F. Kelleher, 69, of Alliance, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, May 12, 2002, at his home. Born in Alliance on November 8, 1932, he had lived most of his life in Alliance. Dr. Kelleher was a 1961 Graduate of Ohio State University, College of Dentistry, and had practiced in Alliance from 1961 until his retirement in 1992. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and was a former member of their Parish Council and also a former Eucharistic Minister. He had served as President of the Alliance City Council for 12 years and he was also a Past President of the Alliance Jaycee. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #558 and a member of St. Thomas Aquinas High School Booster Club. He is survived by his wife Barbara A. (Kennedy) Kelleher, whom he married on June 15, 1957; three daughters, Erin Dougherty of Kennebunk, ME, Mary Beth Fisher of Columbus, OH and Colleen Spees of Columbus, OH; three sons, Dr. Kelly Kelleher of Pittsburgh, Pa, Dr. Sean Kelleher of Alliance and Dr. Michael Kelleher of Columbus, OH; seventeen grandchildren; two sisters, Effie Jones of Stow, OH and Carol Frantz of Mabank, TX; a brother, Duane Kelleher of Columbus, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Tim and Ethel (Ruffier) Kelleher; a son, Jamie Kelleher; two sisters, Janet Marteney and Katie Hardy; and a brother, Tim Kelleher. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. J. Patrick Manning and the Rev. Fr. Thomas Dyer as celebrants. A Private Internment Service will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
