Dorothy Oney's Obituary
Dorothy (Miller) Oney, 94, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 7:30 pm at Altercare of Alliance in Alliance, Ohio.
Born on December 26, 1924 in Marietta, Ohio to Arthur L. and Marie (Harlow) Miller, she lived in Alliance most of her life.
Dorothy, along with her husband, Rev. Lawrence Oney, founded the Alliance Baptist Temple and was a faithful companion to her husband throughout the 42 years of their ministry.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Gary) Keffer of Nashville, GA; her son, Larry Oney, Jr. of Alliance; two granddaughters, Amy (Mike) Keffer-Shellem of California, MD and Rebecca Oney of Alliance; two grandsons, Paul (Jessica) Keffer of Nashville, GA and Derek (Katie) Oney of Pickerington, OH; nine great-grandchildren, Emily, Ethan, Eli, and Ellie Keffer, Carlie, Cody and Chloe Shellem, and Brock and Bailey Oney.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Rev. Lawrence T. Oney, whom she married on September 8, 1942 and who died on May 5, 2002; her daughter-in-law, Patti Oney; and her parents.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 am at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, with her son-in-law Rev. Gary Keffer, officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Alliance City Cemetery.
