Donald Bennett's Obituary
Donald E. E. Bennett, 91, of Alliance, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Community Care Center in Alliance, Ohio.
Born on January 24, 1929 in Alliance, to William and Mary (Karper) Bennett, he lived in Alliance all of his life.
A 1947 graduate of Alliance High School, Donald was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Maximo.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served our country in the U.S. Army receiving injuries that resulted in obtaining a Purple Heart.
Donald was employed at the Alliance Post Office as a Postal Carrier and retired in 1989 after 25 years of service.
Donald was a lover of nature and enjoyed golfing. He co-owned a bricklaying business with his brother, Richard: "Dick Bennett Construction" and also ran his own business sharpening lawn mower blades and saws out of his garage.
Survivors include his daughter, Karen (Joseph) Hagan of Atwater; four granddaughters, Katie Rogers, Heather Bennett, Tammy Starzyk and Angela Briggs; a grandson, Joe Hagan; three great-granddaughters, Norah Hagan, Ivy Bennett and Lucy Briggs; a great grandson, Jack Starzyk; his wife, Jean Bennett, whom he married in 1992; two step-daughters, Diana (David) Granger and Deborah (Bruce Smith) Ware; two step-sons, Larry Lehman and Gary Lehman; a sister, Anne Kennedy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his son, Michael Bennett; his first wife, Kathleen Bennett who passed away in 1988; his parents; three brothers, Robert, Richard and Billy Bennett; and a sister, Mary Woodward.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Regina Coeli Catholic Church. His Mass of Christian Burial will begin 11:00 am Rev. Joseph Ruggieri as celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
