Donald G. Baier 's Obituary
Donald G. Baier, Sr., 84, of Wellsville, and formerly of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 9:32 a.m. at Salem Regional Medical Center in Salem, Ohio.
Born on May 30, 1933 in Alliance, to Lorenzo and Hazel (Hunt) Baier, he lived in Alliance for most of his life.
A 1951 graduate of Alliance High School, Donald was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served our country in the U.S. Army.
Donald was employed as a welder at Alliance Machine for most of his career and then worked at General Motors Lordstown until his retirement.
He was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #467, the Dante Alighieri Society and the Christopher Columbus Society.
Donald enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping with family, and working on cars.
Survivors include two daughters, Dawn Sacco of Alliance, Lisa (Ron) Hayes of Ormond Beach, FL; three sons, Michael (Helen) Baier of Alliance, Stephen (Vivian) Baier of Canton, and Donald Baier, Jr. of Homeworth; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; life partner, Mary Lanam of Wellsville; three step-daughters, Mary Lou Helsley, Tammy Milat and Lorie Bagnall; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Dorothy Jean Baier; his parents and eight brothers and sisters.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
