Dona M. Favazzo's Obituary
Dona M. Favazzo, 80, of Alliance, died on Friday, December 31, 2010 at Roselawn Terrace in Alliance. She was born on January 14, 1930 in Maximo, Ohio and lived in Alliance area all of her life. Dona was a member of Union Avenue Methodist Church. A 1948 graduate of Alliance High School, she attended Kent State University and Aultman School of Nursing. Mrs. Favazzo had previously worked at B&W Research for 6 years, leaving to raise her family. After her family had grown she re-entered the work force and later retired from the former Alliance Health Center in 1984, after 8 years of service. She was a member of the B.P.O Elks Auxiliary Lodge #467 and was a member of the American Legion Post #166 Ladies Auxiliary. Following her husband s illness, she became his loving caregiver for many years. In her past-time, she enjoyed games of chance, including Bingo and Poker, and also her trips to Mountaineer. Donna especially loved people, her family and her pets, her dog, Max and her cats, Abby, Tommy & Tiger. She is survived by a daughter, Angela (Heinz) Offenbecher of Alliance; a son, Ben S. (Janet) Favazzo, Jr. of Alliance; two grandchildren, Amy Miller of Salem and Steven Miller, II of CA; a great-grandson, Ian Offenbecher; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Ben S. Favazzo, Sr. on May 3, 1996, whom she married on June 23, 1952; her parents, George E. and Henrietta (Stevenson) Weibush, Sr.; a sister, Helen Wood; and four brothers, George Weibush, Harry Weibush, Jim Weibush and Thomas Robert "Bob" Weibush. The family would like to sincerely thank Roselawn Terrace and the employees of Caring Hands for their wonderful care they gave Dona during her illness. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Richard D. Lewandoski, officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
