Delores Keener's Obituary
Delores Jean (Krug) Keener, 81, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina and former resident of Alliance, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Duke Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Born on March 22, 1935 in Alliance, Ohio to Wilmer H. and Lillian I. (Krahling) Krug, she lived in the Alliance area for most of her life.
Delores was employed by Dr. Harry Weaver from 1953 - 1960 as a Medical Assistant. She was then employed at the University of Mount Union with their Enrollment Services Department for 32 years, retiring in July of 2005. She was a former member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in East Canton, OH and recently attended Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church of Spring Hope, NC.
Delores was a former member of the Women's Division of the Alliance Chamber of Commerce and was a member of Mt. Union Women's Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynne (John) McAbier of Rocky Mount, NC; a son, Darin T. (Kathy) Keener of Utica, IL; three grandchildren, Jason (Emily) McAbier of South Lyon, MI, Katie (Adam) Mason of Rolesville, NC, and Evan (Ashlee) Keener of Peru, IL; 4 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary (Heinz) Erbelding of Niles, OH; a brother, Howard (Deborah) Krug of Homeworth, OH; three nieces; and one nephew.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Harry T. Keener, whom she married on February 14, 1958, whom died on November 3, 1964; her parents, Wilmer H. and Lillian I. Krug; and an infant brother.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at the University of Mt. Union, Dewald Chapel. Her Funeral Service will at 11:00 am, with Rev. Marty Cash-Burless officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Union Cemetery in Louisville, OH.
