David W. Stroup's Obituary
David W. Stroup, 75, of Alliance, died on Sunday, November 23, 2008, at 8:43 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born on July 8, 1933 in Atwater, and lived in the Alliance area the last 20 years of life. David was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict in the 82nd Airborn. Mr. Stroup was a corporate pilot for General Electric Air Transport for 23 years, retiring on January 1, 1988. He was a member of the Alliance Lions Club, the Alliance Senior Center and the American WACO Club Inc. and ECOPA and Midwest Antique Airplane Club. He enjoyed restoring antique airplanes. David is survived by his wife, Antonette M. "Toni" (Kramer) Stroup whom he married on October 29, 1960; three daughters, Mary A. Stroup of Bethel CT, Janeann (David) Walker of Danbury, CT and Diane Stroup of Alliance; a son, David James Stroup of Alliance; three brothers, Gerald Stroup of Atwater, Alan (Carol) Stroup of Cocoa, FL and Roger (Mary) Stroup of Moscow Mills, MO; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Chester E. and Mary V. (Sickle) Stroup. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Michael Seifert, as celebrant. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
