David J. McCallum's Obituary
David J. McCallum, 51, of Columbus, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 4:02 pm at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born on January 6, 1963 in Alliance, Ohio to James L. and Marjorie Jean (Wallace) McCallum and lived in Columbus for most of his life. David was a graduate of Marlington High School in Alliance and of Ohio State University in Columbus. David developed a love for flowers from his Grandmother, Opal Wallace, which led him into horticulture. He then founded his own flower shop in German Village. He was the owner of German Village Floral and of Estate Landscaping Service. In his past time, David enjoyed yard sales, flea markets, antiquing, stamp and postcard collecting, caring for exotic and domestic animals and spending quality time with close friends at dinners. Survivors include his partner of 28 years, Jay Foster of Columbus, OH; his beloved aunt, Betty Wallace of Homeworth, OH; three nephews, James (Jennifer) McMaster of Charleston, SC, Christopher McMaster of Stow, OH, & Andrew McMaster of Stow, OH; a great-niece, Makayla McMaster of Charleston, SC; and several aunts, uncles & cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; James L. and Marjorie Jean (Wallace) McCallum; and his sister, Karen McMaster on June 30, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 2:00 pm, with Sue DeHoff, of First Christian Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
