David A. Gallina's Obituary
David A. Gallina, 44, of Alliance, died on Saturday, September 2, 2006, at 11:20 a.m. at his home following a courageous four year battle with cancer. David was born in Alliance on January 14, 1962, and lived in Alliance all of his life, graduating from Marlington High School in 1980. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maximo. Mr. Gallina was a Senior Technical Designer at Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton where he had been employed for 26 years. David was very active in the Boy Scouts Troop #177 for 14 years and had played and coached in the Hot Stove Baseball League for many years. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, gardening and family gatherings. He was also a big Cleveland sports fan. David is survived by his wife, Sharon (Buchanan) Gallina whom he married on July 21, 1984; two sons, Scott A. Gallina and Matthew D. Gallina, both of the home; his parents, Zeke and Joyce (Stoffer) Gallina of Lisbon; a sister, Lori (Stan) Hodes of Miami, FL; a brother, Joe Gallina of Alliance; his mother-in-law, Jan Buchanan of Alliance; a sister-in-law, Carol (Jeff) Hartzell of Alliance; a brother-in-law, Bill (Lori) Buchanan of Alliance; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bill Stoffer; grandmother, Ada (Stoffer) Albright; grandparents, Quillen and Corinne Gallina; and his father-in-law, Art Buchanan. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maximo on Thursday, September 7, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Ungashick as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
