Dante A. Aquilo's Obituary
Dante A. Aquilo, 82, of 2490 Brayton Ave. Alliance, died on Saturday, November 16, 2002, at 10:20 a.m. at the Alliance Community Hospital. Born in Alliance on November 30, 1919, he had been a resident of Alliance until 1956, moving to Miami, Florida. He was a resident of Miami for 25 years and a resident of Deland, Florida for 17 years. He and his wife Sylvia had just returned to Alliance in July of this year. A veteran of World War II, he served as a Sergeant in the U.S.Army in the South Pacific and had received a Bronze Medal. He was a member of the V.F. W. Post 1036 and a member of the Christopher Columbus Society. Mr. Aquilo retired from Delta Airlines in 1981, where he had been employed since 1956. He was a member of the Delta Pioneers Club and the World Airlines Association. Survivors include his wife Sylvia K. (Giacometti) Aquilo, whom he married on February 9, 1952; his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sharon Aquilo, II of South Gate, MI; two grandchildren, Danny, III of Brqwnstown, MI and Dana of South Gate, MI; three great-grandchildren, Danny, IV, Kristi and Mikayla; five sisters, Carmella Tzetzu of North Canton, Mary Searfoss of Alliance, Norma Zamagias of Alliance, Gloria Giordano of Canton, and Linda Canestraro of Minerva; two brothers, Ray Aquilo of Eklton, FL and Joe Aquilo of Canton; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Antonio and Nicolina (Micketti) Aquilo; and a sister, Jenny Polinori. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 20, 2002, from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. J. Patrick Manning officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
