Daniel F. Scaia's Obituary
Daniel F. Scaia, 70, of Alliance, died on Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at 3:37 a.m. at Aultman Hospital in Canton. Born in Alliance, on July 15, 1931, he had lived all of his life in the Alliance area. A graduate of Alliance High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Korean Conflict. A former Knox Township Police Constable for 10 years, he had also been employed in security work. He was the former owner of the Westville Lake Campgrounds and had owned the former Scaia's Sohio for over 10 years. After retirement, he enjoyed participating in flea markets. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the V.F.W. Post 1036, and a former member of both the Dante Alighieri Society and the Christopher Columbus Society for many years. Survivors include his wife, Vicktoria Doris (Dankesreiter) Scaia; three daughters & sons-in-law, Lorraine P. and Bennie Brienza of Alliance, Christine M. and William H. Stillwagon of Riverside, CA, and Darlene J. and Robert A. Havlin of Alliance; two grandchildren, Bennie E. Brienza, Jr., and Renee L. Brienza; a brother & sister-in-law, Raymond and Mary Anne Scaia of Akron; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding him in death were his granddaughter, Melissa M. Brienza; and his parents, Silvio and Jennie (Spada) Scaia. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, June 7, 2002, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, June 8, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht as celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
