Daniel H. Markert's Obituary
Daniel H. Markert, 63, of Hartville, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center. Born on January 29, 1950 in Alliance, he lived in the Alliance and Hartville areas all of his life. He was a 1968 graduate of Alliance High School and received a Metallurgical Engineering Degree from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. Dan retired as a Project Engineer from Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton, where he was employed for almost 40 years. Dan also enjoyed his membership with the Hartville Jaycees, and in his spare time, coached Little League Baseball & Basketball, played Volley Ball, enjoyed amateur photography, and he had his pilot s license before he received his driver s license. Survivors include his wife, Clara (Leaver) Markert, whom he married on August 19, 1972; a son, Chad Markert of Columbus, OH; a daughter, Kimberly (Scott) Jeffries of Uniontown, OH; and two grandchildren, Liliah Danielle Jeffries & Emme Rose Jeffries. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Cathy Garlock and her daughter, Cristin of Sebring; and several other nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Wallace and Kathryn (McConnell) Markert; and a brother, Thomas H. Markert. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, July 12, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. His funeral service will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Joseph A. Peters, officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
