Daniel E. Burns' Obituary
Daniel E. Burns, 54, of Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 1:30 am at Knox Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Ohio lovingly surrounded by his Mt. Vernon Family.
Born on December 24, 1969 in Toledo to Peter and Jane (Brunett) Burns, he lived in Ohio most of his life.
Danny was a unique happy guy. He faced his many challenges with an extraordinary amount of resilience and strength. He was strong-willed and held fast to his many routines. Danny embraced his daily tasks and was a champion bedmaker and laundry folder. He was very particular about his clothes, enjoyed music, old reruns of The Price is Right, visits from his family, outings of any kind and all food, even if it was on someone else’s plate. Dan loved unconditionally and was extremely affectionate especially to those who were patient and kind to him.
A sincere thank you to the Mt. Vernon Developmental Center staff and his family at Washington cottage including the nurses. Their never ending patience and love helped Dan live his best life. We will remain eternally grateful to his closest most beloved caregivers over the last 8 years, Leslie, Jeana, Jackie, Diana, Lonnie, Chuck and Kai. Also, a special thanks to Marcel and all the employees at Panera in Mt. Vernon who demonstrated an incredible amount of compassion and kindness whenever Danny visited.
Survivors include his parents, Peter and Jane Burns of Alliance; his siblings, Peter (Charlotte) Burns of Tampa, FL, Christine (Rick) Robenstine of Alliance, Kate (Tom) Billet of Alliance, Jim (Rosanne) Burns of Akron and Janey (Tim) Roach of Wexford, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding him in death was his nephew, John Shivers.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alliance. His Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Fr. G. David Weikart and Fr. Andrew Burns as co-celebrants.
