Dale H. Abney's Obituary
Dale H. Abney, 68, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at 10:03 a.m. at Aultman Hospital. Born on October 1, 1941, in Alliance, he lived here all of his life, attending Maple Ridge Grade School and graduating in 1959 from Sebring High School. Dale retired from General Motors after more than 25 years of service and most recently was the manager of the Countryside Apartments in Alliance. Mr. Abney was a member of the Sebring Masonic Temple and the Sons of the American Revolution. He had a great interest in genealogy, was an Ohio history buff, and especially enjoyed the Civil War and Revolutionary War periods. He was an avid antique car enthusiast, attending car shows and receiving numerous awards with his 1948 Ford. Dale also enjoyed hunting and archery. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Karen A. (Koch) Abney whom he married on July 28, 1984; two daughters, Luanne Abney-Postiy of Sebring and Tina Abney-Arbitter of Sebring; a son, Troy Abney of Akron; two step-sons, Rick and Chris Haidet of Alliance; seven grandchildren, Michael, Zachary, Tyler, Alisen, Katie, Samantha and Jake; two sisters, Sally Stempinski of Peachtree City, GA and Merry Carol (William) Cotton of Pawleys Island, SC; several nieces and nephews; and his Dachshund, "Lexi". Preceding him in death were his parents, Ray and Irene (Polen) Abney. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at 12:00 p.m. with Minister Tom Palmer of Pine Lake Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Sebring.
