D. Pauline (Polly) Waugh's Obituary
D. Pauline (Polly) Waugh, 83, of Alliance, OH was called to be with the Lord Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Mercy Hospital. Born July 11, 1926 in Washington Court House, OH, she lived most of her life in the Alliance area. Polly treated each day of her life as a special gift and new adventure. She loved to travel, meet new people, listen to country music and dance. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crafts, gardening, garage sales and airplane rides. She was very gifted at transforming the "ordinary" - time, encounters, crafts, etc. - into something precious. At age 16, she was an authentic "Rosie the Riveter," welding Naval ships in CA during WWII. Her adventures brought her back home where she married the love of her life and raised a wonderful family. She spent her life loving, giving, persevering and laughing through it all. Polly is survived by three daughters, Loretta Davis of Cleveland, Pamela (George) Farris of North Canton and Judy (Daniel) Vance of Bel Air, MD; a son, Arthur (Dixie) Waugh of Statesville, NC; eleven grandchildren, Greg, Jeff, Cheri, Lori, Kathy, Lisa, Sarah, Millicent, Paige, Malinda and Jada; twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and a sister, Hattie Kielhorn of Portland, OR. She was preceded in death by her husband Otis O. Waugh; her parents, Lester and Doshie Massie; four sisters and one brother. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, July 8, 2010, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, July 9, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jon Truax officiating. Interment will follow at Moultrie Chapel Cemetery in New Franklin.
