D. Gordon Gansel 's Obituary
D. Gordon "Gordy" Gansel, 83, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Green Meadows Health & Wellness Center in Louisville, Ohio.
Born on June 21, 1934 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Donald J. and Oviee N. (Brewington) Gansel, he lived in Alliance for most of his life.
A 1952 graduate of Alliance High School, Gordon was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served our country in the U.S. Navy.
Gordon owned Gansel Ceramic Tile and retired in 2001 after 30 years of service as a tile setter and plastering contractor.
He was a member of the Alliance Jaycees and Catholic Charities.
Gordon volunteered during Mt. Union College football games and was an avid dog lover.
Survivors include two daughters, Jan Lofgren of Canton and Linda (Mike) Schwallie of Port Charlotte, FL; seven grandchildren, Katie, Laura (Michael), Michael (Angela), Gregory (Jessica), Emily (Ruben), Allison and Carly; three great-grandchildren, Savannah, John and Brynn; three brothers, David, Tim and Gary Gansel; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death his first wife, Ann (Rawlings) Gansel; his son, Stephen Ray Gansel; his second wife, Barbara (Nyardi) Gansel; his parents; a brother, Jacob Gansel; and a sister, Donna Linerode.
His Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
