Clyde P. Stanga's Obituary
Clyde P. Stanga, 100, of Alliance died peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
Born on January 3, 1925 in Somerset, Pennsylvania to Victor and Pauline (Livery) Stanga, he lived in Alliance all of his life.
Clyde was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, Council #558.
A graduate of Alliance High School, he was a pattern maker at American Steel Foundries.
Clyde was also an entrepreneur, owning the Atwater Dairy Park, Burger Hut and the P.D.Q.
A veteran of WWII, he served our country in the U.S. Navy, where he participated in five invasions in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1036 and the American Legion Post 166.
Clyde was also a member of the B.P.O. Elks, Lodge #467 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He loved everything that celebrated his Italian heritage, especially Polka music and dancing.
Survivors include his son, Philip (Linda) Stanga of Avon; his daughter, Renee (John) Amedeo of Akron; five grandchildren, Angela (Ryan) Johnson, Maria (Jason) Potter, John (Lauren) Amedeo III, Jessica (Matthew) Monney and Isabella (Seth Pender) Amedeo; five great-grandchildren, Olivia Johnson, Graham Johnson, Gabriella Potter, Emelia Monney and Adrianna Potter; two special friends, Dolly Rovder and Bob Akins; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Marie (Stinson) Stanga, whom he married on April 7, 1945 and who died on April 12, 1983; his parents; his sister, Laura Rochford; and two brothers, Bruno and Reno Stanga.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 at 10:00 am at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, with Rev. G. David Weikart, as celebrant. Entombment, with military honors, will immediately follow at Highland Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions in Clyde’s memory can be made to the World War II Museum in New Orleans should you choose.
