Clara Walters' Obituary
Clara Walters, 91, of Alliance, died on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 1:05 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. She was born on December 12, 1919 in Olive Hill, Carter County, KY and lived in Alliance most of her life. Clara was a member of the Pennsylvania Ave. Freewill Baptist Church and had been employed with the Alliance Review, where she was a Paper Driver. In her past-time, she enjoyed quilting, cooking, and spending time with family. Clara is survived by a daughter, Jean Zimmerman of Bradenton, FL; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carrie Payton of Alliance, and Susan Bryant of Niles; a brother, John J. Knipp of Alliance; and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Preceding her in death was her husband, Clair Bud Walters, on January 2, 2006, whom she married on September 14, 1964; a daughter Elsie Barker; her parents, William Louis and Lou Minta (Barker) Knipp; and six brothers, Jack Andrew Knipp, Billie Lee Knipp, Fred C. Knipp, Dempsey Arvil Knipp, Jessie D. Knipp and Charles F. Knipp. In Alliance, the family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, October 13, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Chester Bryant officiating. In Ironton, the family will receive friends at Phillips Funeral Home on Saturday, October 14, 2011 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Buck-Horn Cemetery in Lawrence County on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 3:30 p.m.
