Clair Bud Walters' Obituary
Clair "Bud" Walters, 85, of Alliance, died on Monday, January 2, 2006, at 1:15 p.m. at his residence. Born in Chippewa Lake, OH, on October 16, 1920, he had lived in the Alliance area most of his life and was a member of Pennsylvania Ave. Freewill Baptist Church. A decorated World War II Army veteran, he retired from the former Zone Cab where he had been a cab driver. He is survived by his wife, Clara (Knipp) Walters whom he married on September 14, 1964; a daughter, Jean Zimmerman of Bradenton, FL; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Marrow of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elise Barker; his parents, Jack and Clara (Derrick) Walters; and three sisters, Gladys McCauley, Zoe Marries, and Alberta Peterson. In Alliance, the family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, on Wednesday, January 4, 2006, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 5, 2006, at ll:00 a.m. with Rev. George Kiser of the Pennsylvania Ave. Freewill Baptist Church officiating. Military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036 will follow. In Ironton, calling hours will be held at the Phillips Funeral Home on Friday, January 6, 2006, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Buck-Horn Cemetery in Lawrence County on Saturday, January 7, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. Interment, with military honors, will follow.
