Chester N. "Chet" Smarr's Obituary
Chester N. "Chet" Smarr, of Alliance, fell asleep in death at Mercy Medical Center in Canton at 6:00 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011. He was 89. He was a member of the West Congregation of Jehovah s Witnesses. He now awaits the resurrection into the earthly paradise that has been promised. Chet was born on June 24, 1921 in Braxton, W.Va. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific from 1941 to 1945 as Chief Aviation Machinist Mate and retired from Parker Hanifin after 19 years of service and then later from Filnor. Preceding him in death was his parents, Lee and Lydia (Dobbins) Smarr; a sister, Letha Smith and a son, Dale Lee Smarr. Chet is survived by his wife, Jeanette (Albright) Smarr; a son, David James (Jackie) Smarr of Texas; two grandchildren, Toni Renee and Randi Nicole (Smarr) Maw, both of Texas; two sisters, Esther Smith of Clinton, MD and Virgie Best of Gassaway, W.VA; and his two faithful kitties, Tipper and Teddy. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah s Witnesses, 701 W. Main St., on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. with Lou Whitaker officiating. There are no calling hours.
