Charlotte E. Betz's Obituary
Charlotte E. Betz, 85, of Alliance, died on Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Alterra Sterling House of Alliance. Born on May 28, 1924 in Minerva, she lived in the Alliance - Minerva area most of her life. Following graduation from Minerva High School in 1941, she went to work for Lewis Engineering as an inspector and a press operator. While working at Lewis, she attended Nurses Aide Classes and in 1943 started to work for Alliance City Hospital as a Nurses Aide. She later went to work for Lingenfelter-Brill as a clerk and buyer. Mrs. Betz attended the Chapel in Marlboro and also attended services at Sterling House. Charlotte was a member of the Elks Auxiliary and the Alliance Senior Center. She enjoyed crocheting, ballroom dancing and was a regular with the Center Line Dance group and enjoyed performing for area nursing homes. She is survived by her two daughters, Jackie (Bruce) Havens of Canton and Anna (Chris) Voss of St. Marys, GA; a son, Gary (Barbara) Peters of Alliance; seven grandchildren, Tami (Dan) Stecz, Nicole (Chris) Herberghs, Trisha (Aaron) Dillon, Dr. Christopher (Jennifer) Peters, Michelle (Eric) Gibbons, Charlene Voss and Jacob Voss; a sister, Betty Dailey of Wooster; two brothers, Robert (Jean) Grunder of Homeworth and Scott Grunder of Newton Falls; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Russell Betz in 1992, whom she married in 1975; her parents, Carl and Zola (Johnson) Grunder; and a sister, Anna Louise Bowman. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, December 21, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, December 21, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Joel Cochran of Marlboro Chapel officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
