Charles E. Sampson's Obituary
Charles E. Sampson, 87, of Alliance, died on Friday, April 23, 2004, at Community Care Center. A lifelong resident of Alliance, Charles was born on July 27, 1916. A graduate of Alliance High School and Mt. Union College, he received further education at Georgetown University, the University of Kentucky and The Ohio State University. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion, Post 166. Mr. Sampson retired as the income tax administrator for the city of Alliance. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the B.P.O. Elks. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Charles Craig and Mary Lou Sampson of E1yria; and a sister-in-law Grace M. (Earp) Johnston of Akron. Preceding him in death was his wife, Dorothy J. (Earp) Sampson on January 28, 1997 (they were married May of 1946); and his parents. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. An Elks Club Service will be held on Sunday at 1 :30 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr: Donald L. Feicht as celebrant. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Sebring.
