Charles S. Nieman's Obituary
Charles S. Nieman, 83, of Alliance, died on Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at 12:55 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. Born in Alliance, on April 20, 1919, he had lived all his life in the Alliance area. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he retired from 40 & 8 Insulation and had also served with the Civilian Conservation Corps during the depression. He was an avid fisherman and an Emeril Lagasse fan. Survivors include six daughters, Sherry Russell of Alliance; Janet Gorfi of Sebring, Rebecca Stowers of Orrville; Evelyn Bauhof of Alliance, Katherine Devore of Orrville, and Rose Walsh of Youngstown; two sons, Thomas E. and Leslie W., both of Sebring; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Evelyn Mason, Mabel Kirkpatrick, Dorothy Swiner, and Violet McKnight, all of Alliance, one brother, Clifford Householder of Florida, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his wife, Jaqueline Nieman on, March 30, 1996 (they were married on June 8, 1957); his son, Charles S.; his father, George Nieman and his mother, Pearl (Dutton) Nieman-Householder-Griffith; and seven brothers, William, Harry, Alfred, John, Albert, Paul and Edward. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at Highland Memorial Park on Friday, July 19, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Randy Payne, officiating. There are no calling hours.
