Charles R. Kent's Obituary
Charles R. Kent, 76, of Alliance, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012, at 4:05 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. Born on January 12, 1936 in Zanesville, OH, he lived in Alliance since 1974. A 1953 graduate of Lash High School in Zanesville, he then graduated in 1957 from Ohio Northern University, with a BS degree in Pharmacy, and also from the University of Akron with a MBA in 1983. Charlie began his career as Director of Pharmacy at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Zanesville. He then had been employed for 14 years as Director of Pharmacy at Alliance Community Hospital and later at Akron General Hospital as a staff pharmacist. He retired from Edwin Shaw Hospital in Akron, where he had been Director of Pharmacy for 10 years. Charlie was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. He also was a member of American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, a founding member of PRO Inc. In his past-time, he enjoyed dancing, especially line dancing, softball with Alliance Church League, cross stitching, woodworking, golf and attending Porthouse Theatre. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis A. (Stiers) Kent, whom he married on June 22, 1957; a son, Jeffery V. Kent and his wife Gerri of Addison, TX and their children, Carolyn, Aileen, Maureen, Jeffery, Amy & Laura; a daughter, Terri Kent and her husband, Rohn Thomas of Kent, OH and their children Hunter, Morgan, Samuel & Kaishawn; a son, Sean L. Kent and his wife Beth of Newport News, VA and their children, Melissa, Elizabeth, Connor & Cameron; a son, David D. Kent and his wife Kim of Alliance and their children, Sarah, Diedre & Stacy; a son, Kevin C. Kent and his wife Marlene of Dublin, OH and their children, Alex, Hilary, Austin, Matthew, Abigail & Irene; his mother, Francine (Rogers) Stuller of St. Petersburg, FL; two sisters, Cindy Eisenhauer of Orlando, FL and Bobbie Bonavia of St. Petersburg, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his father, Robert L. Kent. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Friday, November 9, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Thomas Dyer as celebrant. Arrangements are by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, 1000 S. Union Avenue, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
