Charles H. "Charlie" Haidet's Obituary
Charles H. "Charlie" Haidet, 81, of Alliance, died on Sunday, February 14, 2010, at 2:23 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born on May 23, 1928 in Alliance, and lived in Alliance all of his life. A 1947 graduate of Alliance High School he attended Mt. Union College. Charlie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served as an usher for many years. He retired from the former Alliance Steel Products, where he was the secretary-treasurer for more than 30 years. Mr. Haidet was a life member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge # 467. Charlie was an avid bowler and sports fan. He loved to fish, play bingo and do crossword puzzles. He is survived by his wife, Betty J. (Hupp) Haidet, whom he married on April 24, 1952; three children, Larry (Carmen) Haidet of Alliance, Thomas (Missi) Haidet of Alliance and Debra (Haidet) Frank of Medina; six grandchildren, Jessica (Adam) Grimes, Lee, Tyler, Tommi, Nicholas and Ashley; three great-grandchildren, Andy, Danny and Annie; a sister, Helen Wallace of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was a granddaughter, Lindsey; his parents, Lawrence and Dorothy (Moushey) Haidet; three sisters, Adeline Beach, Rita Hillman and Gertrude Haidet; and three brothers, Chet, Wilford "Toot" and Donald "Tubby". The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht, as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
