Charles E. "Chuck" Gibson, Sr.'s Obituary
Charles E. "Chuck" Gibson, Sr., 66, of Alliance, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2009, at 3:42 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. Born in Centralia, WV on August 7, 1942, he lived in Alliance since 1965. Mr. Gibson was a member of the Alliance First Assembly of God church and their Honorbound Men s Group. A U. S. Army veteran, Chuck retired in 1990 from Alliance City Construction, where he was employed as an ironworker. In his past-time, he enjoyed working with Light for the Lost and working with the Steak Wagon Team at Alliance First Assembly of God. He also loved hunting, fishing, baseball and all kinds of sports. Survivors include two daughters, Debbie (Anthony) Marinaro of West Lafayette, IN and Jeanne (Steve Wharton) Stoffer of Ovieda, FL; two sons, Charlie Gibson of Warren and Mark (Debbie) Gibson of Mentone, AL; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; former wife, Esther (Bonsall) Gibson; four sisters, Loleta J. Mercer of Sebring, Orvalene (Richard) Price of Davenport, FL, Linda (Rondall) Allen of Crawford, WV and Mary (Ed) Colegrove of Muskegon, MI; four brothers, Roger (Barb) Gibson of Mogadore, Homer (Louetta) Gibson of Corley, WV, Burnard (Brenda) Gibson of Sutton, WV and Jack (Brenda) Gibson of Sebring; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Orville and Geraldine (Barker) Gibson; a sister, Shelva Lilly; and a brother, Kenneth Gibson. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Alliance First Assembly on Friday, May 1, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Ping of Alliance First Assembly of God and Jason Allen of Victory Apostolic Church co-officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
